Which Edging Should I Choose?

All quality driveways & patios need some sort of edging.

• Concrete pin kerbs: Pin kerbs are a must for supporting edges on any surface, especially if the surface is on a hill or camber, it's imperative the far edge is supported by pin kerbs and a good amount of concrete haunching to back them up.
• Block edges: Block edges are often used in con junction with pin kerbs to give a decorative edge and specific look to the finished surface. Blocks can be used without pin kerb supports if the lay of the land allows. Key kerb blocks give a raised decorative edge, great for raised planters and steps. Also look great around the perimeter of jobs but can be an expensive option.

Why do I need a manhole? How do I choose one?

If you have manholes in your selected area at the moment then it would make total sense to replace them with new recessed manholes. This way your new chosen surface can be inlaid inside the new recessed manhole tray giving a beautiful look and feel.

Some manholes are old so will be in imperial measurements! Don't worry about it just select the nearest measurement to your existing cover at this stage.

Do I need drainage?

Most surfaces (except SUDS Compliant, like our Resin Bound surfaces) will usually require some sort of drainage system. Not only to keep your property and belongings safe from flooding but to also to comply with local authority legislation when it comes to creating a new hard standing.

If the lay of the land is towards a property then the drainage would be fitted in front of the property. If the lay of the land is away from the property towards the road then drainage would be fitted on the far boundary edge perimeter within your property.

Which steps should I choose?

Steps come in all shapes and sizes and can be discussed and finalised on a site survey, in general a standard step would fit a single door, a large step double doors. Steps are based on one raised tier into a property. If the height from the door to finished surface is greater than 300mm then you may want to consider opting for a two tier step.
